Unit 3- Exploring ideas

When I first heard of the Unit 3 project I thought we had to make up our own scripts and draw our own storyboards but when I found out that we didn't have to do that and that we got given a script to follow and draw the storyboards I was a little relieved as I would have found it hard to come up with my own script and draw the storyboards.

At the beginning when I was doing this project I didn't realise how many drawings I needed to do for this project... when I first told to read this script I was having a difficult time reading it as I'm dyslexic and reading this script over and over again was making my eyes hurt and it was giving me a headache every time if I read it for a long period of time, I did end up doing the drawings that I needed to do in the end but I found that difficult to do as well as I was having trouble figuring out how to draw certain poses of the character and the actions that they where doing. When I first got handed the script that I was meant to draw I did go along and highlight the three important things on the script as you can see in the images below

Pink- Things I didn't understand

Blue- Detail in clothing

Yellow- Key detail in the story

I highlighted the key points throughout the whole script as you can see below...

These are my rough drawings I did for the script.

As you can see I didn't do that many drawings from my script as I found the drawings really hard to do I wasn't sure how to draw some of the scenes in the script, what I mostly found difficult was doing the different camera angles of the perspective drawings I wasn't sure how to draw them. I do realise that my "rough drawings" didn't really look that rough at all some of them are really detailed and I wasn't supposed to make it detailed but sometimes I was having trouble picturing what their body language would look like and their emotions on their face, especially when it came to drawing stick people that should have been the most simple thing for me to draw in rough drawings but that's what I found the most hard.. and I think that's what set me back a little bit as I did the drawings in a bit of detail and that's what led me behind other people in my class.

I didn't really enjoy this Unit as much as the other units I've done in the past as it was a lot of drawings that I had to do and I didn't realise that I had to do a lot of drawings until I was halfway through the scrip... I unfortunately didn't get to finish the entire script drawings as I ran out of time, I was really struggling on the drawings on how to draw the other scenes from the rest of the script,  if I had more help on how to draw the other scenes from the script I would have gotten it done, it was really stressing me out so I decided to stop at scene 39 where she runs into the abandoned warehouse. I didn't get time to draw my drawings in photoshop as I was running out of time for submission, I was also really unwell during the end of this unit.

This the test run of my drawings in the software after effects...

This is my final piece of the project...

In my final piece you can see in the video I had to change the order of the scene slightly as the test run video order didn't make any sense, my mum read the script out loud to me and I noticed that I missed out some scenes in the script, for example Val (women character) she kicks the trash bins twice and I only included that she only did it once at the beginning  and missed the drawing where she was looking around to find an escape plan, there where a few other scenes that I missed out but I think the video animatic  storyline makes sense, some of it doesn't really work the only bit that works when she is running away from the pursuers after she did the roundhouse kick,  the drawings are not massively  good but I didn't give up on this unit even though I found it the most frustrating to do and the most challenging I tried my best!
